You feel that? Is that spring, I can practically hear flowers blooming. These are the songs I have been vibing with this month.
Over you (feat. Frida Sundemo) by Kasbo
This song feels like bubblegum cherry pop and I love it. I have been playing it as part of my morning routine and I leave the house hype. I also play it for my 8 am class (it doesn’t help they are still half sleep).
Gang Gang by Migos
One of my students played this song for me early in the month. I can’t stop listening to it. #alwaysrepthegang. The words will not change your life, but that beat though.
Formidable by Stromae
One of my good friends, who is a French teach, played this in her car few years back and I loved it. I rediscovered it this month. I love that moment at 1:00. Let’s listen to this one for the culture.
Weak by Wet
If you like this song, check out all the music from Wet. It is so good. Marble browned in teeth…come back to me in pieces.
Liar by Gentle Bones
This little duet gives my soul life. The lyrics and the chorus are just lovely and gentle and get into your bones. Slowly you’re some kind of sorry, but it’s sounding more like you’re letting me know…
All The Stars (with SZA) by Kendrick Lamar
A little film called BLACK PANTHER came out. Do yourself a favor, go check out the entire album because it is excellent.
X (with 2 Chainz & Saudi) by ScHoolboy Q, 2 Chainz and Saudi
Also from the Black Panther soundtrack. I feel like this is Killmongers anthem. Not even Kendrick can Humble me. YASSSS! I love some feistiness.
Brain by Banks
This is not from her new album, but it is excellent. I love her voice it is so deep, sultry and full.
Where I Want To Go By Roo Panes
This little folk song has been my favorite love song for about 2 years now. Your, your love takes me where I want to go.
Reminder (Remix) By The Weeknd
There is a lot of rap on this playlist, but I just found the remix to this song and I am a fan.
Pray By JRY and Rooty
(Guess the film soundtrack from the lyrics). I’ve been playing with my demons making trouble for yourself/ and these days are far from over you know I can’t help myself/ I love coming for you baby and killing me inside/ I’ve been dying for you baby almost every single night. (That’s right 50 Shades Darker).
Hand Me Down By Matchbox 20
The throwback for the list, Matchbox 20. I loved this band back in the day. The lyrics of this song are lovely. Going to make you like the way they lie, better than the truth. They’ll tell you everything you wanted someone else to say. They’re going to break your heart, yea from what I’ve seen, you’re just one more hand me down.
The Way I Do By Bishop Briggs
This is a very soulful, almost gospel song. The song uses handclaps as the percussion and a man humming carries the tune. It is different, but good.
Remember By Seinabo Sey
This song just came out last week. Brilliant.
