Tattooed Doves June Playlist

Summer playlists are important. Can you believe that it is already June? Summer here we come!  Listen in Spotify!

Girls Like (feat. Zara Larsson) by Tinie Tempah

Let’s start out with a dance track because it is summer and summer is for dancing and sunshine. This song is not new, but I just discovered it, which means I am really behind. It is so good though, there literally is a JK Rowling reference in it. I know, basically perfect.

From Afar by Scott Quinn

This song has a depth to the sound which pulls you into a dream state. It would be a good addition to any study playlist. If you have a little extra time I would check out all of Scott Quinn’s music because it is really good at creating a mood; light some candles and open your ears.

Tell Me In The Morning by FOURS

“You tell me that you love me, I tell you that you are drunk. I say tell me in the morning…” I am just saying these lyrics speak to me on a spiritual level and I think a lot of people would agree with me. Good summer anthem? I think so.

The Only Thing Worth Fighting For by Lera Lynn

This song is from the HBO series True Detective. I watched the TV show and fell hard for the song; like I have a crush on this song. Great singer/song-writer/ Folk-ish/ song. Is that a thing? It is now.

 Deep Green by Marika Hackman

This is from her EP Deaf Heat which is excellent. I like this song in particular because the drums and lyrics give me a Where The Wild Things Are kind of vibe. Like I want to go outside and dance in the rain barefoot/naked kind of vibe. Ok, maybe not naked…or I mean maybe.

The Fear by Ben Howard

Ok, so I just rediscovered this album; Every Kingdom. I remember first listening to it when I was in grad school. With the stress, test and competition in grad school, the lyrics spoke to me. It really was my grad school anthem. Listening to it now, the message is just as strong. Don’t let fear direct you. “I’ve been worrying that I am losing the ones I hold dear. I’ve been worrying that we all live our lives, in the confines of fear.”

The Wolves by Ben Howard

Can you tell I just want everyone to listen to this entire album. This is my second favorite track on the Every Kingdom album. Once again, the feel, the lyrics, the arrangements; all perfect. Also you know, wolves are great.

Yeah Right by Joji

Just do it. Just listen. I can’t explain I just love this song. Like I have it on repeat right now. It is like sound-quicksand. Like Marshmallow being strung on a Christmas tree, like you know that feeling when the sun just sets, but it is not night yet? No? Ok, just listen.

Caged Bird by Myles Cameron

That voice though. We love that voice.

Empty by Kevin Abstract

I just discovered Kevin Abstract. Technically its rap, hip-hop with an R&B feel. I love artist that you can’t really put in a category. The chorus is lovely. The song is from the album American Boyfriend. There is such a sadness to this song …

Miserable America by Kevin Abstract

The lyrics, the lyrics. One more time for the lyrics. “My boyfriend saved me/ My mother’s homophobic/ I’m stuck in the closet/ I’m so claustrophobic.”
