Confession 1.
I love a floral maxi dress.
Confession 2.
My license says I am 5’3, but I am not. I was having a tall day (in my head) the day I got my license. You know those days when you are like, I am basically 6’2 watch out world.
I am actually 5’2 and I use to think that I could not pull off a maxi dress.
In reality, I was doing it all wrong.
I know I am not unique when I say black is my favorite color to wear. It is flattering. I works with most outfits, but when it comes to long dresses, it makes you look shorter.
In the past, I would consistently buy black maxi dresses that made me look shorter than I was. It did not help that I also did not get the dresses hemmed. That is another tip, hem any dress and it is going to look better on you!
I know what you are thinking, just get petite sizes. The problem is I am right in the sweet spot, I am sure average height people can empathize, petite is too short. Regular is too long. So, I buy regular and hem. If you are tall, but not that tall, I would suggest buying tall and hemming.
You want your clothes to fit.
Two tips for short girls. Actually, for any girl.
- GET THE DRESS HEMMED (you will wear it more and it will fit you correctly.)
- Floral prints are flattering. Any print is flattering. I am sure black would even be flattering if you got the dress hemmed.
I came across this colorful number at SHEIN for only $28. I got an extra small, paid $15 to get it hemmed and I love it.
I don’t often shop at places like SHEIN because I hear horror stories of getting something that does not even resemble what I asked for, but this dress came through in the best way.
